I guess I'll have to open Alison and look at the RAM. I did a basic memory test and passed but that means nothing AFAIK.

I took the single 4 GB PC3-10660 out and put two 2 GB PC3-126-- whatever they are, will see it it's more stable or do I go further.

And now I have Firefox as my browser instead of IE on Alison. WORKS. Should have done this a long time ago.

I've been using Firefox for a long time. On win 7pro now. Like it a lot. The add-on extensions can add a lot of nice features. Ones I use you may want to try:
Classic Theme Restorer - can do a lot more than the title implies
    Download Manager Tweak
    DownThemAll!
    FlagFox
    FoxClocks

The only plug-in I allow is Shockwave Flash.

Flash used to be called Shockwave Flash or something, the two were related but I am not aware if Shockwave is still available from Adobe...some of this stuff goes back to the Macromedia days. I have a dental appointment and they still have a pre-appointment form that I gather uses Flash, and I seem to recall that it's been there for years and years, and they mention Macromedia Flash...

Macromedia, the creator of Flash, Dreamweaver and others was purchased by Adobe in 2005. If you haven't changed that page in over 12 years...and Flash is GONE by 2020...of course, Adobe was saying this in 2011 but it's a pain still.

    They call it Flash:

    https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

    https://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player.html

    http://www.macromedia.com/support/do...manager02.html

but after it installs, it show up as Shockwave Flash in Firefox

You have to give it permission to operate in Firefox! They consider it a security risk!

It really doesn't work well on mobile devices and has more security holes than the Sea Of Holes *Yellow Submarine

It's a lot of how they hack you with that browser lock screen ransomware in Windows! That and javascript. They are going beyond that limitation now but what's left?

Mostly PORNSITES that don't care to fix their sites. What's the point?

I've used computers since 1978, PCs since 1984, Apple clones and a Mac Classic I checked out used for a friend (and it did not impress me at all), HP 3000 mini-mainframe in college and my first taste of internet use in 1995 and my first ISP account in 1997. Been there and done that.

Yes. I only turn it on for sites that require it. Not many. It will hopefully be gone soon, like java.

    CALLING WEB AND JERRY!

I have had this problem with two computers now, standard and UEFI BIOS.

I set boot order to boot from the DVD drive but the computer tries to start in Windows like there is a GHOST. I even get the splash screen before the BSOD and reboot.

There is NO Windows disk in there and I'm trying to install LINUX. I tried everything I knew how to do with Valerie, pulling the plug, battery and memory and still those four points of light come together for the Windows logo (7)...so where in the HELL is that stupid thing?

It's not just Friday the 13th, I've had that problem for a long time.
